In March 2021, Makoto Taiko participated in an educational program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders called Symphonic Adventures-Passport to Rhythms hosted by the New West Symphony, a professional orchestra in the Los Angeles area. This year’s virtual session included a video featuring Makoto Taiko’s Artistic Director, Hunter Loyd, interacting with two children, Scarlett and Torrey, as they explore taiko drumming, its roots in Japan, and the types of drums, and how to create wonderful music through rhythms. This video and Study Guide is made available to 21 California school districts and meets several California Content Standards education goals for this age group.
