Exadon is an innovative program with two main purposes: health promotion and preventive healthcare through taiko. Developed by the Kodo Cultural Foundation in 2014 in collaboration with Dr. Yoshinori Morimoto (Mental health physician), the program has helped people develop “healthy habits of mind and body” while enhancing their well-being through taiko drumming, performing arts, and physical activity.
Originally designed as a preventive healthcare program for the elderly, Exadon has expanded over the years to support the well-being of individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of cognitive conditions. Today, Exadon workshops are conducted for a diverse range of age groups, from children to seniors.
About the Exadon Intensive Workshops
Masami Miyazaki, member of Kodo Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble, and Masumi O’Brien, certified Exadon Facilitator, will provide an in-depth exploration of the Exadon program, covering key topics such as:
• Creating a welcoming and supportive space for participants.
• Helping each participant discover and express their true self and uncover their true potential.
• Fostering teamwork and connection through taiko drumming.
Drawing on the knowledge and experience gained at Kodo, this course offers a comprehensive approach to conducting taiko workshops, helping participants embrace the rhythm and spirit of taiko in a meaningful way. Please note while you will learn how to tailor Exadon’s concepts to suit your group’s unique style, goals, and the specific needs of your community, it does not include certification as an Exadon Facilitator.
Who Should Attend?
The workshop is intended for Taiko players and leaders who want to contribute to their community through drumming, or anyone interested in leading inclusive and welcoming taiko workshops.
Makoto Taiko is the coordinator for the Exadon Intensive Workshops. Space is limited to 25 participants for each location.
Registration Fee: $290 per participant
